Here’s a beat I’ve been working on for a while. It’s still more or less nothing more than some drums and a bassline but it took me a long time to get the sounds to sit together which (i’m my opinion) they finally do. I went about this using simple tools – an eq, compressor, reverb and panning and really felt I learnt a lot in the process. The techniques I used for the high hats are something I will definitely use in future projects. Its a shame because it’s still so very simple and I tried various permutations of instrument for the melody but couldn’t help but feel it really requires a vocal. Anyway a lot learned and a beat to file away as I never know when it’ll come in handy:)
